AN APPEAL

Greetings from Konkani Christian Association (R) Mysore.

We have immense pleasure to introduce our association to you.

A group of enthusiastic youngsters with the blessings and support of Elders and Konkani clergy started this association in 1981. It was a humble beginning with its activities restricted only to annual celebration of nativity feast of Mother Mary, our patron and occasional cultural programmes.

Over the years, apart from fostering our culture traditions, heritage and language we started actively involving in social service, and we extend a helping hand to the needy and poor. We have established Poor fund to cater the needs of the poor students education and poor family for medical, housing and funeral expenses. Our association created a history of sorts by organizing Dasara Sports Meet for the first time in Mysore for the slum and street children. We were motivated by the public response to it.

We have ambitious plans for the future. But our immediate requirement is a multi purpose Community Hall, which will enable us to execute our plans with improved financial resources. We have embarked upon a huge project of construction of an auditorium to be named as “KONKAN BHAVAN” at an estimated cost of Rs.3 crores, we intend to use a multi purpose hall by providing it for training programmes for self employment men and women, child development, Konkani Library apart from letting out for marriages and cultural programmes.

Our members are contributing their mite which is hardly sufficient to support even part of the work. The construction work is in progress, we wish to complete construction work at the earliest with your support. Hence, we have decided to appeal to philanthropists and well wishes like you knowing the generosity and charitable nature of our people who are spread all over the world we have taken this liberty of appealing to them for help.

Our hopes are high, Cause noble. Completion of this project will afford us great financial independence which will enable us to reach our goal and fulfill the aspirations of our members. The Govt. of Karnataka (India) has sanctioned us some amount.

Gratitude is the memory of the heart we will cherish your help gratefully and make the best use of it.
